The Triplet Series of Binoculars:

The TS triplet series of binoculars features a particularly good value for money. Triplet stands for three-element objectives causing a high grade of chromtical correction. Professional manufacturing processes guarantee an excellent image quality.

The 20x80 T Astro:

With a pair of multi-coated 80mm objectives the 20x80 offers a huge light gathering power and consequently very bright images. For astronomy many hundred objects are within reach of these giant binoculars. Resolving power is much better than in typical smaller binoculars.

The 20x80 T features robust mechanics and will easily survive the strain of regular handling and transportation, unless undue force is used. Coupled with its still rather light weight the 20x80 is ideal for portable use.

Applications:

The TS 20x80 is designed for tripod use. The tripod adaptation is included, so no further parts are needed. Recommended tripods can be found below.

Flip-In UHC Nebula Filters:

The TS20x80Astro is the sister model of the standard TS20x80T. It shares the same basic features, however its astronomical performance is greatly improved: Simply flip in a pair of UHC nebular filters for drastically improved contrast for gas nebulae. Flipping the filters in or out is easily done by simply turning the knurled knobs near the eyepieces.

The left image shows a typical gas nebula (in this case the Dumbbell nebula M27) as it can be seen with astronomical binoculars but without the use of contrast improving filters. The light pollution of nearby villages lights up the sky background so that the nebula will be difficult to see and several of its details are completely invisible. The right image shows the same object with the same instrument, but with the use of UHC filters.

Better image quality by triplet objectives:

Most binocular objectives are doublets. The new designed triplet objectives allow significantly better image corrections on-axis and also in the field.

• - Better field flattening: sharp image on-axis and also in the field
• - Less false colour: the blue fringe is significantly reduced and finest detail can be detected
• - Lower distortion: objects keep their form. For instance, the moon does not becom oval if placed on the rim of the field

The integrated tripod adapter:

Despite the moderate weight of 2.4 kg, the 20x80 triplet has an integrated tripod adapter to mount the binocular on any standard photo tripod with 1/4" thread. We recommend using this binocular with a tripod because a magnification of 20x cannot be used free-hand for more than a few seconds. Find suitable tripods in the "Accessories" section.

Fields of use:

The 20x80 Triplet is good transportable. The rubber armour and its robust design make it very suitable for outdoor use.

• Nature observing / Birdwatching: While admittedly quite large and comparatively heavy, the 20x80 is much more powerful than let's say a standard 10x50 model, both in terms of magnification and light gathering power. This makes it ideal for medium distance binocular observing where a spotting scope might not be comfortable enough, whereas a smaller binocular does not offer the necessary magnification. The 20x80 allows you to observe from a safe distance with the full comfort of binocular viewing.
• Astronomy: many hundred objects are easily within reach of these binoculars. The double cluster in Perseus (see left image) is a truly stunning view. For many users the Great Andromeda Galaxy is a true highlight - observing with both eyes really makes a difference here!
• Special Feature: Flip in UHC nebula filters simply by turning two knurled buttons close to the eyepieces. The filters will significantly improve contrast for gas nebulae. Details see above!

Very comfortable viewing position by long eye relief:

With 17mm eye relief, the 20x80 triplet offers stress-free observations. The wide field of view can surveyed easily.

Observations with eyeglasses are no problem, too. The rubber eyeguard can be flipped down.

Fully multi coated on all optical surfaces:

The high optical quality requires the manufacturer's best coatings. Sharpness and contrast can be made usable only in this way. The TS 20x80 triplet is fully multi coated on all optical surfaces.
